House of Games to Mansion in the Park

Last weekend Redbridge Plus had a great weekend from taking part in the quiz House of Games, based on the popular TV series, and then a visit to Valentine's Mansion.

On our regular Friday night meeting at the community centre we played House of Games, which involved a variety of different activities. First we had to remember a range of objects, then answer questions with the answers being the objects. Then we were given a map of Britain, and given a random place, and then we had to decipher where this place was on the map. Other tasks included connecting words written in code and figuring out in which year specific historical events took place.

Then over the weekend, as the weather was improving and Spring was on its way, we decided to go for a walk in Valentine's Park and visit the mansion. We walked around the lakes and saw a variety of different birds including swans and coots. There were also Egyptian geese sitting on the grass and some were in the pond with their new goslings.

Afterwards we explored Valentine's Mansion, which is made to look like a Victorian Household. It looked quite authentic with a bedroom and drawing room as well as a fully stocked kitchen.

All in all a great weekend. Other events to look forward to which include a walk in Wanstead Park to see the bluebells in April/May time, a night out to see a terrific band, and a charity quiz on Saturday 16th May.
