Tripple Success in Awards

The group recently celebrated winning an impressive three awards at a gathering of groups from across the region. The local lot took home the trophies, including one for the prestigious Best Group award, from the 18 Plus East Anglia Area conference.

The award was given to the group in recognition of the variety of events on their programme, the quality and popularity of their group, holidays organised and for supporting other groups in the area. Other awards scooped on the evening were for the Spirit of 18 Plus, which was shared with the Barking and Dagenham group, and the Roy Gordon Trophy for their participation in events run within the area.

Chairman Trevor Eley said: "It was very satisfying and surprising to win the trophies, and credit for the success really goes to the group's members too for their enthusiasm and the friendly atmosphere of the club." The group usually meet on Friday evenings at Central Library, Clements Road, llford. However, during the closure of the library in April they will be running alternative events at different venues, which have yet to be confirmed.
