A Redbridge social group has raised £1,000 for an adventure playground which helps young people with disabilities. Comments Email Print To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.Redbridge 18 Plus put on a number of events, including karaoke, a charity race night and a sponsored walk, to reach the target for East London Handicapped Adventure Playground (ELHAP) in Roding Lane North, Woodford Green. Members of the social group, which organises activities like trips to the Norfolk Broads and pool competitions, visited ELHAP on Friday to present the charity with a cheque.18 Plus member Francesca Barclay, 28, of Springfield Drive, Newbury Park, said: “They let children be a bit more free and choose what they want to do and be more active. They can use their imagination a lot more.”She added that she was impressed with the facilities on offer in the adventure playground, including a giant see-saw and a Doctor Who-style Tardis. ELHAP started in 1976 and offers play opportunities to young disabled people through school visits and holiday playschemes.
